Project Director – Energy & Infrastructure The Project Director is responsible for a portfolio of significant Energy & Infrastructure Projects. Initially responsible for the Snowy Hydro 2.0 Program of Works, which is expected to run through until 2030 (minimum), this Executive Leadership role is accountable for the strategic direction, commercial performance and operational success of all Snowy Hydro 2.0 activities including Business Development, Project Delivery, Financial Performance, Client and Stakeholder Engagement, Workforce Capability and Operational Excellence. The role is responsible for establishing and positioning our client as a trusted and high-performing partner for Snowy Hydro 2.0’s Tier 1 Contractors by delivering safe, high-quality and commercially successful projects while driving sustainable Project growth, profitability and organisational capability.

The Project Director will develop and execute Project growth strategies across Snowy, identify and secure new Contracts (Scopes of Work), and build long-term relationships with the major Clients.

The Project

Director will be responsible for the Snowy Hydro 2.0 Project Management Team, including multiple Senior Project Managers who are resident onsite in Cooma on a rotating shift basis. (Noting that this role has no requirement to be onsite for extended periods of time).

The Project

Director will provide executive oversight of the overall Snowy Hydro 2.0 Program of Works, ensuring the Projects are appropriately planned, resourced and delivered safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with contractual, technical, quality and regulatory requirements. This position is classified as Award-free and sits outside of coverage under any modern award. This is a managerial role that operates at an Executive level, requiring oversight across multiple key project areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Project Growth-

- Develop and implement the strategic direction and growth strategy for Snowy Hydro 2.0.
- Identify emerging opportunities across the Tier 1 Contractors and maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities aligned with the Group’s strategic objectives.
- Drive sustainable revenue growth and profitability.
- Build strong relationships with Clients, Contractors & Industry Stakeholders. Position us as a preferred and trusted delivery partner on Snowy.

Project & Operational Delivery-

- Provide executive oversight of all Snowy Hydro 2.0 Projects.
- Ensure Projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, within budget and to the required quality and contractual standards.
- Establish appropriate operational systems, processes and performance measures on Snowy to support consistent project delivery.
- Drive operational excellence, productivity and continuous improvement.
- Ensure appropriate mobilisation, resourcing and capability for new and existing projects.
- Monitor project performance and proactively address delivery, resource and operational risks.

Commercial & Financial Performance-

- Have overall accountability for the financial performance of the Snowy Program of Works.
- Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, revenue targets and profitability.
- Provide oversight of tendering, estimating, contract negotiations, variations, claims and commercial risk.
- Ensure effective commercial governance across the Snowy Program of Works.
- Identify opportunities to improve margins, productivity and commercial outcomes.
- Ensure appropriate reporting performance to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team.

People & Organisational Capability-

- Lead and develop a high-performing Snowy Project Delivery team, including the Senior Project Managers who are running each individual package of work.




- Develop workforce strategies aligned to current and future project requirements.
- Ensure that the team has the leadership, technical and operational capability required to properly execute the works and support Project growth.
- Drive recruitment, succession planning, leadership development and employee engagement.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, safety and high performance.

Safety, Quality & Risk-

- Champion our clients’ commitment to safety, quality and environmental performance.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, regulations, contractual obligations and company policies.
- Promote a proactive and accountable safety culture across the snowy Projects in all cases.
- Ensure appropriate quality assurance and quality control systems are maintained.
- Identify, manage and mitigate strategic, operational, commercial and project risks.
- Actively participating in establishing and maintaining a safe working environment for all of our employees, contractors and stakeholders in accordance with applicable Work Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and regulations by:

- Demonstrating visible and accountable safety leadership. Promoting a proactive safety culture across all Snowy Projects. Leading by example in all HSE matters.
- Supporting and overseeing investigations into incidents, near misses and safety events. Ensuring Energy & Infrastructure projects comply with legislative, contractual and client HSE requirements.
- Supporting employee health and wellbeing initiatives across the business.
- Ensuring environmental responsibilities and sustainability requirements are effectively managed.
- Maintaining compliance with all of our HSE systems, policies and procedures.
- Ensuring appropriate HSE performance measures and reporting are established and monitored across the E&I; business.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement-

- Establish and maintain trusted, long-term relationships with key clients and strategic stakeholders, acting as the senior escalation point for significant Client, Project and Commercial matters.
- Ensure consistent delivery against client expectations and contractual commitments.
- Develop strategic partnerships that support future business growth and market opportunities.
- Represent us at senior industry, client and stakeholder forums.

Qualifications And Experience-

The following qualifications and skills are required to perform the duties of the position:

- Degree Qualification in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Business or a related.
- Extensive senior leadership experience within the Energy, Infrastructure, Engineering, Construction, Utilities or related sectors.
- Demonstrated experience leading and growing a Mega Project or significant operational function and experience leading large multidisciplinary teams across multiple projects and/or locations.
- Proven success in strategic client relationship management.
- Strong commercial management experience, including budgets, forecasting, contract management and profitability.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex major projects and contracts.
- Strong understanding of Australian Energy & Infrastructure and project delivery environments.
- Experience working with major clients, principal contractors, government & industry stakeholders.
- Demonstrated understanding of project governance, risk management and commercial controls.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and environmental excellence.
- Current unrestricted Australian driver's licence.
- Ability and willingness to travel nationally as required.
- Ability to successfully complete client, site and project-specific onboarding, screening and compliance requirements.
