We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Technical Services team based at Eight Mile Plains. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, this role will support the safe, compliant and commercially controlled delivery of recycling and resource recovery projects from design development and procurement through construction, commissioning and handover.
About the role
As Project Engineer, you will work across the full project lifecycle and coordinate a broad range of engineering, contractor and operational activities.
Key responsibilities will include
- Coordinating multidisciplinary engineering across mechanical, structural, civil, electrical, controls, building and fire systems.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, equipment data and technical submissions against project scope, performance requirements and applicable standards.
- Identifying design gaps, clashes, constructability issues, maintenance access requirements and functional risks.
- Preparing scopes of work and subcontract packages.
- Supporting tendering, technical and commercial evaluations, negotiations and supplier recommendations.
- Managing technical queries, RFIs, design reviews, approvals and technical decisions.
- Coordinating equipment suppliers, contractors, consultants and operational stakeholders during construction and installation.
- Managing contracts, variations and contractor obligations.
- Monitoring project costs, programme, productivity and delivery against budget.
- Supporting site inspections, quality requirements,
defect rectification and close-out.
- Coordinating commissioning, testing and handover activities.
- Ensuring safety, compliance and risk management requirements are maintained throughout project delivery.
About you To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Proven project engineering or project management experience within the engineering sector.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety, regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Experience working with contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Good commercial awareness, including exposure to project budgets, contracts and variations.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and projects while meeting deadlines.
- Experience within recycling, manufacturing, processing, materials handling, industrial infrastructure or similar environments would be highly regarded.
