Project Manager - Store Construction (ANZ)
Lead New Store Openings Across Australia & New Zealand

Working across POP MART's existing portfolio of 17 stores in Australia and New Zealand, this role is responsible for supporting new store construction projects, retail fit-outs, project quality management, contractor coordination, and facilities maintenance activities across the region.
You will work closely with landlords, consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to POP MART's quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Construction Preparation
- Participate in the development and review of layout plans and full sets of construction drawings to ensure feasibility and cost control.
- Review engineering budgets to ensure reasonableness and alignment with project objectives.
- Coordinate with Business Development teams across ANZ to support commercial negotiations by providing technical and engineering input.
- Liaise with mall landlords or building owners on design reviews, permit approvals and mandatory pre-construction clearances.
- Coordinate with local external vendors and suppliers to ensure project readiness.
Construction Quality & Safety Management
- Supervise retail store fit-out construction activities and conduct inspections to ensure compliance with brand quality standards.
- Carry out and maintain inspection records, including concealed works inspections, and follow up on defect rectification.
- Ensure compliance with on-site safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
- Analyse project expenditure and recommend cost optimisation opportunities where appropriate.
Project Handover & Settlement
- Lead pre-handover inspections and joint acceptance reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor defect rectification progress to ensure store handovers meet required standards.
- Verify project completion quantities and support the preparation and review of final settlement documentation.
Documentation Management
- Maintain complete construction records, including drawings, technical documentation and inspection reports.
- Ensure all project files are accurately archived and readily accessible.
Facilities & Maintenance Support
- Oversee maintenance activities across the store network and coordinate repairs when required.
- Analyse maintenance data and identify opportunities to improve store fit-out standards and engineering practices.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of engineering quality systems, processes and operational standards.
- Complete additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in retail store fit-out supervision, construction or project management.
- Experience in design coordination or architectural communication is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of construction regulations, site supervision practices and retail fit-out projects.
- Experience managing construction quality, project timelines and costs.
- Sound knowledge of structural design, construction methods and building materials.
- Ability to identify and resolve engineering and construction-related issues.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp and related software.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and accountability.
- Able to travel as required across Australia and New Zealand.
- Mandarin language skills are highly regarded, but not a deal breaker
