Project Officers, State Records NSW
We are seeking a number of Project Officers to join State Records NSW and contribute to projects and programs that shape recordkeeping standards, policy and practice across the NSW public sector. Working within a specialist team, you will undertake research and analysis, develop guidance and resources, engage with diverse stakeholders, and support initiatives that strengthen government accountability, transparency and information governance. This is an exciting opportunity for motivated professionals with strong project, communication and stakeholder engagement skills who are passionate about driving best practice and continuous improvement in records and information management.
What the opportunity is:
- Employment with State Records Authority NSW.
- Archivist Grade 3. Remuneration package includes salary ($126,814 - $141,291), employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
- Multiple full-time roles on a temporary basis for a period up to 30 June 2027.
- The role will work across Sydney with office locations at the Western Sydney Records Centre and The Mint.
- A talent pool may be created for future ongoing and temporary roles.
What we do State Records Authority NSW (State Records NSW), is a statutory body established under the State Records Act 1998, which was established on 31 December 2022 as the successor agency to the State Archives and Records Authority of NSW. Its vision is to support transparent and accountable government by being an expert, best practice regulator.
State Records NSW assists public offices to meet their recordkeeping obligations under the State Records Act. It is led by an Executive Director.
State Records NSW provides oversight of recordkeeping across the NSW public sector. We support effective and productive recordkeeping by setting standards, promoting good practice, monitoring recordkeeping practice and compliance, and providing guidance, advice and resources.

Undertake projects and programs of work to regulate, guide and influence official recordkeeping and information and records management across the NSW public sector.

- Provide an example of a time when you worked with multiple stakeholders who had differing priorities or perspectives. How did you communicate, influence and negotiate to achieve a successful outcome?
Essential requirements of the role:
- Possession of qualifications acceptable for professional membership of the Australian Society of Archivists (ASA) or other combination of qualifications and experience deemed by the agency head or Public Service Commission to be equivalent, that meet the minimum standards inherent in the ASA standard.

- To be eligible for an ongoing role in the NSW Public Sector you need to be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident. For temporary and casual roles, you need to hold a valid visa giving you permission to work in Australia as required by the role.

- A talent pool may be created for future ongoing and temporary roles and is valid for a period of up to 18 months.
