Where you'll be working
John Hunter Children's Hospital (JHCH) is a specialised tertiary referral paediatric hospital in Newcastle, providing complex medical, surgical, major trauma and neonatal care services for Northern NSW. The Children's Hospital in Newcastle, one of three children's hospitals in NSW, will over the course of a year see almost 25,000 children and young people present to the emergency department, have 9,000 admitted to hospital and perform over 100,000 occasions of service through outpatient clinics.
What you'll be doing
Provisional Fellow positions in Paediatric Immunology and Allergy are available for up to 12 months. Positions are accredited for Advanced Training in Paediatric Immunology and Allergy at John Hunter Children's Hospital (JHCH).
The Provisional
Fellow position provides the Advanced Trainee an opportunity to further their training, developing skills important for a consultant role in the spheres of clinical care,
education and training as well as research with support from the team consultants and other multidisciplinary health care professionals.

Fellow role is a leadership role, both within the department for other junior medical staff and medical students as well as members of the multidisciplinary team, but also across the broader hospital community. Please refer to the statement of duties for the position and contact the relevant contact persons for further information about the position. Job sharing arrangements for some positions may be considered. Trainees who have completed their FRACP requirements may not be eligible for these positions. At times trainees may be requested to provide clinical support across John Hunter Children's Hospital.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Registered with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as an Advanced Trainee, successfully completed all components of Basic Physician Training in Paediatrics including the FRACP examination.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Excellent communication, leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals.
- Ongoing commitment to further education and professional development and demonstrated ability to teach, with a willingness to participate in the teaching of Medical Students, Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff.
- Understanding of research methodology or research experience and a willingness to undertake research.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent time management, problem solving skills, clinical skills, judgment and expertise
