Logan Steel is looking for a Purchasing & Compliance Officer to join our team.

About the role

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys keeping things moving, keeping suppliers accountable and making sure the paperwork and compliance side of the business doesn't get left behind. Your days will be varied, but you'll be responsible for keeping our purchasing and compliance processes running smoothly.

If you're someone who likes knowing what has been ordered, when it's arriving, what it costs, whether the paperwork is up to date — and you're not afraid to pick up the phone and chase something when it isn't — we want to hear from you.

Key responsibilities

- Order steel, materials, components, consumables and other products needed to keep the business moving
- Get quotes, compare prices and negotiate with suppliers
- Raise purchase orders and keep track of orders from start to finish
- Follow up suppliers when deliveries are late, incomplete or not quite what was ordered
- Build and maintain valuable relationships with suppliers
- Look for better pricing, better suppliers and smarter ways of purchasing
- Keep an eye on stock levels and upcoming requirements
- Source new products and suppliers when needed




- Maintain compliance registers and keep important documentation up to date
- Monitor licences, certificates, insurances and other expiry dates
- Collect and maintain supplier and subcontractor documentation
- Help prepare for audits, inspections and compliance requirements

About you

- Extremely organised with an eye for detail
- Confident picking up the phone and dealing with suppliers
- Able to negotiate with suppliers
- Comfortable juggling several jobs at once
- Take ownership and follow things through
- Good with computers and not afraid of learning new systems
- Can spot when something doesn't look right and aren't afraid to ask questions
- Reliable, practical and genuinely care about doing a good job
- Enjoy working with a team but also comfortable getting on with things yourself
- Experience in purchasing, procurement, compliance, administration, manufacturing, engineering, construction or a similar industry would be an advantage
