Carpenter / Multi-Skilled Portable Home Installer
Portable Home Builders Australia is looking for an experienced and reliable Carpenter / Multi-Skilled Installer to join our growing installation team.
We specialise in the installation of expandable and portable homes across Australia. Our projects are primarily located in Perth and Brisbane, with occasional work in Victoria and regional areas.
This is initially a casual position with ongoing work, with the opportunity to progress into part-time or full-time employment for the right person.
What you will be doing:
Installation and assembly of expandable and portable homes
Carpentry and general building works
Building decks, verandahs and external structures
Roof framing and roof installation
Installation of skirting, flashing, trims and waterproofing components
Internal fit-out and modification work where required
Levelling, positioning and securing portable homes
Using power tools and construction equipment
Loading/unloading materials and assisting with site setup
General site duties and clean-up
- Working closely with our installation team to complete projects efficiently and to a high standard
What we are looking for
Qualified Carpenter or strong demonstrated carpentry/building experience
Ability to work independently and solve practical building problems on site
Experience with framing, decking, roofing and general construction highly regarded
Experience with portable/modular buildings is an advantage but not essential
Electrical, plumbing or other trade qualifications/licences are highly regarded
Current White Card
Current Australian driver’s licence
Own basic tools preferred
Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on construction work
Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a small team
Strong attention to workmanship and finishing
Must be willing and able to travel interstate and to regional locations
- Electrical, plumbing or other trade qualifications/licences highly regarded
Work & Travel:
Our installation work is project-based. A typical project may involve the team working on site for several consecutive days or approximately one week until the installation is completed.
Regular interstate and regional travel is an essential part of this position, particularly between Perth and Brisbane, with some projects in Victoria and other locations.
Working hours can vary depending on the project. During active installations, longer working days may be required.
Pay
$50–$60 per hour casual rate, depending on qualifications, experience and demonstrated capability
Expected approximately 20–60 hours per week depending on project schedules
- Travel-related arrangements and accommodation for approved work trips will be discussed/provided as applicable

Important
This position is best suited to someone who enjoys hands-on construction work, is flexible with working hours and locations, and is genuinely comfortable travelling for work.
If you are looking for a standard Monday–Friday job at the same location every week, this position may not be suitable.
