Where you'll be working

Located in the heart of the New England region, Barraba is a welcoming rural community surrounded by the beautiful landscapes of the New England North West.

Community nursing in Barraba offers something different from a traditional hospital environment. You’ll get to know your patients and their families, develop strong relationships within the community and have the autonomy to manage your own caseload while being supported by a broader multidisciplinary team.

About the role

As a Registered Nurse within Barraba Community Health Service, you’ll provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with a range of health needs.

You’ll work both independently and collaboratively to deliver safe, compassionate care in line with best practice.

You’ll have access to ongoing clinical support and education from Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Consultants (CNCs) and Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs), as well as a range of online learning platforms.

In this role, you will:

- Manage an individual patient caseload within the community setting.
- Provide nursing care across both the Community and Community Clinic.
- Undertake comprehensive nursing assessments and develop care plans based on individual patient needs.
- Provide complex wound assessment, treatment and ongoing management.
- Undertake catheter management and provide education and support to patients and carers.
- Provide safe and effective medication management.
- Support patients receiving palliative care, including providing compassionate support to patients and their families.
- Identify patient needs and facilitate appropriate clinical referrals.

With a Monday to Friday, 5-day-a-week service (excluding public holidays), this role offers the opportunity to enjoy community nursing while maintaining a great work-life balance.

About you

We’re looking for a compassionate and capable Registered Nurse who is confident working autonomously and enjoys the variety and responsibility that community nursing provides.

You’ll bring

- Recent experience in complex wound care,



catheter management and medication administration.
- Confidence and sensitivity in supporting palliative care patients and their families.
- Strong time management, organisation and clinical decision-making skills.
- A commitment to patient-centred care and collaborative teamwork.
- Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic community setting.

Essential Requirements
- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- A current unrestricted NSW Driver Licence and the fitness and willingness to travel for work purposes.
