About the Position

Shen Chinese Medicine Centre is seeking an experienced Remedial Massage Therapist to join our established therapeutic clinic in South Melbourne on a full-time basis.

This is a therapeutic and remedial massage position, not a general relaxation massage role. The successful applicant will provide treatment to clients presenting with muscular tension, soft-tissue dysfunction, physical discomfort, injuries, mobility limitations and recovery requirements.

The role operates within a Chinese medicine treatment environment alongside practitioners providing Traditional Chinese Medicine services.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct detailed client consultations and assess client history, injuries, muscle tension, joint mobility and soft-tissue dysfunction.
- Implement appropriate therapeutic treatment techniques based on client assessments.
- Perform remedial massage, deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, Tuina, trigger point therapy and other therapeutic massage techniques.
- Massage muscles, tendons and ligaments to assist healing, rehabilitation and recovery.
- Apply therapeutic techniques to relieve muscle tension, improve circulation and support physical recovery.
- Provide rehabilitation advice, stretching guidance, posture advice and appropriate lifestyle recommendations.
- Assist clients experiencing muscular strain, sports-related conditions, injuries and recovery-related discomfort.




- Monitor treatment progress and adjust treatment techniques according to client requirements.
- Maintain accurate treatment records and progress notes.
- Work collaboratively with Chinese medicine practitioners and other therapists.
- Maintain treatment rooms and comply with hygiene, infection control, workplace health and safety and professional standards.
- Manage appointments, bookings and client enquiries.

Skills and Experience

- Diploma or higher qualification in Remedial Massage, Massage Therapy or a related discipline.
- Minimum one years' experience as a Massage Therapist or in a related therapeutic or rehabilitation environment.
- Extensive knowledge of human anatomy, muscles, soft tissues and recovery techniques.
- Demonstrated experience in remedial and therapeutic massage.
- Strong client consultation and communication skills.
- Professional and client-focused approach.
- Ability to work within a therapeutic clinical environment.
- Knowledge or experience in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Tuina is highly regarded.
