About the role

Lawson Care Services is seeking an experienced and qualified Residential Care Officer to provide and coordinate person-centred supports for NDIS participants with intellectual disability, autism, ADHD, schizophrenia, psychosocial disability and other complex support needs. The role involves assessing participant needs, developing and implementing individual support programs, monitoring participant progress and wellbeing, providing psychosocial support, and coordinating supports within residential and supported-living environments.

Key responsibilities

- Provide care, supervision and support to participants within residential and supported-living environments.
- Assess participants' individual needs, abilities, psychosocial circumstances and support requirements.
- Develop, implement, monitor and review individual support and skill-development programs.
- Monitor participant progress, wellbeing, behaviours, risks and changes in support needs.
- Provide psychosocial support using recovery-oriented and person-centred approaches.
- Support participants to develop independence, daily-living skills, social skills and community participation.
- Liaise regularly with participants and their families regarding support needs, goals, progress and changes in circumstances.
- Implement Behaviour Support Plans, individual support plans and allied-health recommendations within the scope of the role.




- Identify and respond appropriately to changes in participants' mental health, psychosocial functioning, behaviour and wellbeing.
- Coordinate day-to-day participant supports and provide guidance to disability support workers.

About you

- Diploma of Mental Health (CHC53315) or equivalent recognized Mental Health qualification.
- Minimum 2 years' relevant experience in disability services, psychosocial support, residential care, supported independent living and/or aged-care environments.
- Demonstrated experience supporting people with intellectual disability, autism, ADHD, schizophrenia, psychosocial disability and complex support needs.
- Demonstrated experience providing psychosocial support to people with mental health and complex support needs.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current National Police Check.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Current Australian driver's license.
- Right to work in Australia.
