About the role

City of Canada Bay is seeking enthusiastic Resource Recovery Officer Cadets to join our Sustainability & Waste team and support the rollout of Council’s Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) service.

This is a great opportunity for a university student, looking to gain practical experience in waste management, sustainability and community engagement.

In this role you will:

- Undertake waste and contamination audits
- Support contamination monitoring and management
- Educate residents on correct waste separation and Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO)
- Collect and record audit and engagement data

Are You the Ideal Candidate? To be successful in this role, you will:

- Be enrolled in an undergraduate degree or TAFE qualification in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field.
- Show a willingness to learn and contribute positively to a team environment
- Hold a current Class C NSW Drivers Licence

We’re looking for strong communicators who are enthusiastic, proactive, organised and comfortable working with the community. Previous waste experience is not essential - just a willingness to learn! This role is expected to commence in January 2027.

We are offering a total remuneration from $26,167 – $66,795 annual salary plus superannuation.
