Orana Steiner School is seeking reliable and experienced administration staff to join our team as a School Receptionist on a casual basis.

Role Overview

As the School Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for staff, parents, students, and members of the public in responding to inquiries and providing relevant information and managing administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of the school. You will also perform the important duty of serving our First Aid Bay for students.

Working Hours

Weekday, School Term: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break).

Please note the casual nature of employment. Shifts will be available on an ad-hoc basis which will vary from time-to-time and may be at short notice.

Remuneration The salary and conditions of employment are determined by the Independent Schools ACT (Professional and Operational Staff) Staff Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025.

The position is classified at Level 1 to 3 of the Clerical and Administration category, based on the experience of the candidate. Casual Hourly rate of $45 - $55.

Training

Successful candidates will receive a day of paid group training to ensure a smooth transition into the role.

Key Accountabilities The primary responsibilities are:

- Enquiry Triaging and response (phone, email and in person) from parents, staff, students and external stakeholders.

- Handling sick-bay presentations and administering first aid.

- Administering student medication.

- Processing student absences, signing in and out late arrivals/early departures using school systems.

- Sending regular communications to parents and families using school systems.

- General administrative duties.

Key Selection Criteria The successful candidate will require:

- A friendly, approachable nature.

- A clear and confident communication style, in-person and over the phone.

- Strong attention to detail.

- Strong initiative and solutions-focus.

- First aid and CPR skills.

- Patience and willingness to help.

- Reliability.

- Capability to handle varied tasks under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

- Capability to prioritise appropriately.

- Good IT literacy.

- The ability to identify situations or issues that need to be escalated/ redirected elsewhere.





- The ability to contribute towards a positive and open team culture.

Other requirements

- Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) Registration.

- First Aid certificate.

- Unrestricted and unlimited work rights in Australia (Citizen or PR).
