SECTION WAITER – LIAR LIAR

Big personalities required at Liar Liar!

We are looking for an experienced Section Waiter to join our growing front-of-house team.

We’re a high-energy Japanese restaurant and late-night venue in Braeside, combining premium Japanese food, cocktails, sake, live entertainment and a service style that’s polished without being stiff.

We’re looking for someone who can own a section, build a connection with guests and confidently guide them through the Liar Liar experience.

THE ROLE

As a Section Waiter, you’ll be responsible for your section from the moment guests sit down until they leave.

You’ll be expected to

- Manage a busy section confidently and independently

- Provide warm, energetic and professional table service

- Know the menu and guide guests through their dining experience

- Explain Japanese dishes, ingredients and styles of dining

- Make confident food, cocktail, wine and sake recommendations

- Upsell naturally and increase the guest experience — not just the bill

- Control pacing and communicate effectively with the kitchen and pass

- Maintain clean, polished and properly reset tables throughout service

- Anticipate what your tables need before they have to ask

- Work closely with runners, bartenders, hosts and management

- Understand dietary requirements and allergies and never guess

- Help us maintain our focus on 5-star guest experiences

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We want hospitality people who genuinely enjoy looking after guests.

Ideally, you will have:





- Previous experience managing your own section in a busy restaurant

- Strong food and beverage knowledge

- Confidence speaking with and engaging guests

- Excellent communication and attention to detail
- The ability to stay organised during high-volume services
- A positive attitude and willingness to help the wider team
- An interest in Japanese food, sake and culture

- Current Victorian RSA

- Availability across evenings and weekends

Japanese restaurant experience is highly regarded, but not essential. If you have strong restaurant experience and want to learn, we can teach you the product.
