Position Profile: The Security Operations Officer delivers an integrated security function across WA Country Health Service (WACHS) sites, supporting safe and inclusive environments for patients, staff, and visitors. The role contributes to effective service delivery through physical security presence, technology-enabled security operations, and mental health patient transport.
Operating within a multidisciplinary healthcare setting, the role supports the management of workplace violence and aggression, applying verbal de-escalation as the primary response and supporting clinically directed, least-restrictive interventions in accordance with legislation and policy.
The position works with a high level of autonomy while collaborating with security, clinical, and operational stakeholders to support coordinated responses and continuity of care.
This is a Permanent Full Time, Permanent Part Time, Fixed Term Full Time, Fixed Tern Part Time or Casual appointment, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.
Area Profile: The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is the largest country health system in Australia and one of the biggest in the world, providing health services to approximately half a million people, including 45,000 Aboriginal people, over a vast two and a half million square kilometre area. The organisation comprises seven regions, with a strong network of public hospitals, health services and health centres located across rural and remote Western Australia. The suitability requirements below are derived from the Form and define what will be assessed to determine your suitability for the role:
1. Demonstrated experience or transferable skills in practical, operational, or field-based environments, with the ability to apply situational awareness, risk assessment, problem solving, and coordinated responses in dynamic multidisciplinary settings.
2. Demonstrated verbal and non-verbal communication skills, including active listening, empathy, conflict resolution, and de-escalation techniques when interacting with distressed or at-risk individuals.
3. Demonstrated ability to produce accurate logs, records, and comprehensive incident reports, with proficiency in computer applications and security software relevant to control room functions.
4. Demonstrated ability to assess risks, interpret security information, and implement appropriate responses along with the capability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, emergency responders, and external agencies.
