Samsung C&T; has long been active in the energy business having delivered projects across the globe including Australian geography. These cover projects ranging from renewable energy generation, Transmission Lines and Gas power generation.
To strengthen our team, and in pursuit of new business opportunities, we are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Advisor for Energy projects in Perth.
About the Role
- Establish and communicate environmental compliance expectations and project environmental targets across the integrated project delivery team.
- Design and deliver comprehensive site environmental inductions and specialized training programs (e.g., flora/fauna management, heritage protection) tailored for WA conditions.
- Actively audit and monitor multi-package subcontractors to ensure strict adherence to the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP).
- Review subcontractor Environmental Management Systems (EMS)
and provide targeted advisory support to address interface risks between the gas power plant and BESS scopes.
- Evaluate bidders' environmental track records, competency, and technical submissions during the multi-package procurement process.
- Review and refine environmental scopes of work, specifications, and returnable schedules for inclusion in the Principal's Project Requirement (PPR).
- Develop, implement, and progressively update the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) and associated sub-plans for both gas generation and BESS assets.
- Secure, track, and maintain compliance with all critical WA statutory approvals, including EPA conditions (Part IV), Works Approvals / Licences (Part V), and Native Vegetation Clearing Permits (NVCP).
- Lead thorough environmental risk assessments, site inspections, and compliance audits to proactively mitigate issues such as noise, emissions, and hazardous chemical storage.
- Investigate environmental incidents or near-misses using robust root-cause analysis (RCA), implementing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Monitor, compile, and report environmental performance metrics and compliance dashboards for parties including but not limited to Samsung, APA, and Owner's Engineer.
- Act as the key operational contact for Western Australian regulatory bodies (e.g., DWER, DBCA), Client representatives, and local community stakeholders on environmental matters.

About You
- Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline.
- Desirable: Auditor certification in Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001); Practitioner membership with an industry body such as ECAWA or EIANZ
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience as an Environmental Advisor or Coordinator, with a proven track record on major infrastructure, resource, or power generation projects.
- Extensive in office delivery experience within Western Australia, demonstrating a deep practical understanding of local environmental conditions and regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience managing environmental compliance across multi-package subcontracts or complex interfaces (experience with gas turbines or utility-scale BESS is highly advantageous)
- Comprehensive technical knowledge of Western Australian environmental legislation, specifically the Environmental Protection Act 1986 (Part IV and Part V).
- Expert proficiency in developing and executing CEMPs, environmental monitoring programs (air, noise, water), and regulatory compliance tracking.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to negotiate and influence positive environmental outcomes with regulators, clients, and subcontractors.
