About the Role

As Senior Marine Inspector, you will provide national leadership, technical advice and operational support for AMSA's domestic commercial vessel (DCV) inspection function.

Working with inspectors, surveyors, compliance specialists and industry stakeholders, you will help strengthen inspection practices, support inspector capability, analyse emerging risks and contribute to nationally consistent, risk-based compliance outcomes.

In this role you will:

- Lead and support domestic commercial vessel inspection policy, procedures and guidance.
- Coordinate national inspection activities, campaigns and performance reporting.
- Support inspector capability through training, mentoring and technical guidance.
- Analyse inspection intelligence and identify emerging compliance risks.
- Contribute to risk-based compliance strategies and regulatory assurance activities.
- Engage with industry, operational staff and partner agencies on inspection matters.

What We’re Looking For

- Strong knowledge of the Marine Safety (Domestic Commercial Vessel) National Law Act 2012,



relevant Marine Orders and AMSA's domestic commercial vessel inspection framework.
- A minimum of five years' experience in domestic commercial vessel inspection, maritime compliance, marine survey, vessel operations or a related maritime regulatory environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical training initiatives, support capability development and promote nationally consistent inspection practices.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation, policy and technical guidance to inspection, compliance and enforcement activities.
- Experience developing practical inspection guidance, procedures, training materials or knowledge resources.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to identify trends, assess emerging risks and prepare explicit reports and recommendations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across operational, technical and industry environments.
- Experience supporting digital inspection tools, SharePoint resources, performance dashboards or continuous improvement initiatives.
