Our client is Australia's largest education system, supporting learners across early childhood, schooling and vocational education and training.
The Infrastructure procurement function supports the delivery of projects across the Department, ensuring procurement activities are compliant, commercially sound and deliver value for money.
Role Description:
We are seeking two experienced Senior Procurement Officers to provide specialist procurement advice and manage complex, end-to-end procurement activities supporting infrastructure and construction projects.
The role will work closely with internal stakeholders, project teams and suppliers to plan and deliver procurement activities, ensuring compliance with NSW Government procurement requirements while achieving effective commercial and operational outcomes.
This is a hands-on procurement role requiring someone who can independently manage procurement processes, provide clear advice to stakeholders, identify and mitigate risks, and ensure procurement documentation and activities meet appropriate governance and compliance standards.
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist procurement advice across infrastructure and construction projects
- Lead and manage complex end-to-end procurement activities from planning through to contract award
- Develop and coordinate sourcing and tendering activities
- Support procurement planning, market engagement, tender evaluation and recommendation processes
- Work closely with project teams and business stakeholders to understand procurement requirements
- Provide guidance on procurement options, processes, risks and compliance requirements
- Manage communication and engagement with suppliers throughout key procurement stages
- Identify and mitigate procurement risks relating to cost, quality, delivery and compliance
- Monitor procurement activities, outcomes and key milestones
- Prepare and maintain accurate procurement documentation and records
- Conduct quality assurance reviews of procurement documentation and processes
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes and practices
- Support transparent, compliant and value-for-money procurement outcomes
Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience managing complex end-to-end procurement processes
- Strong experience across procurement planning, sourcing, tendering, evaluation and contract award
- Experience within infrastructure, construction, property, capital works or a similarly complex environment
- Robust understanding of government procurement policies, legislation and governance requirements
- Demonstrated ability to provide specialist procurement advice to senior and diverse stakeholders
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Experience managing supplier engagement throughout procurement activities
- Strong understanding of procurement risk management and value-for-money principles
- Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and experience undertaking quality assurance of procurement documentation
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver procurement activities within tight timeframes
- NSW Government procurement experience highly regarded
- Experience working within a large and complex public sector or infrastructure environment advantageous
