The Department of Health plays a critical role in the Victorian health system and is responsible for shaping it to meet the health needs of all Victorians. The Senior Project Officer supports the Manager to maintain oversight of Health Service boards, which includes leading the recruitment and appointment to health service boards in accordance with the legal framework, developing and implementing department health governance policy, as well as coordinating and responding to new and emerging issues and risks.

The role involves developing effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders including senior leadership teams and board chairs.

About you:

Can you demonstrate the following?

- Interprets and applies business plans and policies in own area of responsibility and provides advice to others on implementation issues
- Creatively develops options in a changing organisational environment.
- Initiates and maintains relationships with peer and senior internal and external stakeholders
- Negotiates with stakeholders and peers with the object of gaining cooperation and meeting timelines for delivery of project, service or advice
- Uses specialist knowledge within a confined field to challenge policies and professional concepts

Qualifications / Specialist Expertise

- A tertiary qualification in fields related to health, public policy or health governance or administration would be desirable
- Knowledge and experience in government, health sector and/or health service governance would be desirable, with skills and experience in policy development and implementation.
