Description

As a Legal Counsel - Procurement, you'll be a trusted adviser delivering commercially focused legal advice across a diverse portfolio of work. You'll partner with stakeholders across the organisation to navigate legal risk, support procurement and technology initiatives, negotiate key commercial arrangements and help deliver strategic outcomes for our members and business.

You'll join a collaborative and high-performing legal team that values practical thinking, strong relationships and a solutions-focused approach. From complex contract negotiations through to strategic projects and regulatory considerations, you'll have the opportunity to work across a broad range of matters while influencing business decisions at all levels.

You'll also play an important role in promoting effective risk management practices, sharing legal knowledge across the business and identifying opportunities to improve processes, ways of working and commercial outcomes.

This role is available as a permanent opportunity and is available in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Perth.

Responsibilities
Day to day, you'll:

- Provide commercially focused legal advice across procurement, technology, intellectual property, insurance, disputes and corporate matters.
- Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements and legal documentation.
- Partner with stakeholders to identify, manage and mitigate legal and reputational risk.
- Support strategic projects, transactions and business initiatives across the organisation.
- Manage relationships with external legal providers to ensure high-quality and cost-effective advice.
- Assist stakeholders in understanding legal and regulatory obligations and their practical application.




- Build trusted relationships with senior leaders and key business partners.
- Contribute to legal knowledge sharing, process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and provide relevant guidance to stakeholders.
- Support a strong risk and compliance culture across the organisation.
- Support strategic projects, transactions and business initiatives across the organisation.
- Manage relationships with external legal providers to ensure high-quality and cost-effective advice.

Qualifications
It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

- You hold tertiary qualifications in Law and possess a current unrestricted practising certificate as an Australian Legal Practitioner.
- Your post-admission experience has been gained within a law firm, financial services organisation or a comparable commercial environment.

- You'll bring strong experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
- You're knowledgeable across commercial, procurement, technology and financial services legal matters.
- You have demonstrated experience influencing and partnering with senior stakeholders.
- Your ability to provide practical, concise and commercially focused legal advice is highly developed.




- Your procurement, technology or in-house legal experience will be highly regarded.
