APS5 Project Officer / APS6 Senior Project Officer - Public Health Surveillance

Location: Phillip, ACT
Contract: 30 November 2026 to 30 June 2028, with up to 12 months extension by agreement
Pay: $60 - $80 p/h including super (negotiable)
Work type: Full-time
Work arrangement: Hybrid / flexible, with specific arrangements agreed with your supervisor on a case-by-case basis
Clearance: Must hold a current Baseline clearance or above

About the Role
Our Federal Government client has two project opportunities supporting national public health surveillance.

The APS5 Project Officer will keep day-to-day delivery moving through project coordination, stakeholder support, governance, reporting and administration.

The APS6 Senior Project Officer will take greater ownership of project and contract delivery, stakeholder coordination, data governance and operational improvement.

What You'll Be Doing

- Coordinate project and program activities across technical surveillance work.
- Support or manage contracts, procurement and related administration.
- Coordinate internal teams, external stakeholders and service providers.
- Support data governance, access and data request processes.
- Coordinate reporting, publications, dashboards and analytics activities.
- Maintain transparent operational resources,



administration and delivery support.
- At APS6 level, take greater ownership of project, contract and contributor coordination.

What You Bring (Essential Criteria)

- You've delivered project or program coordination in government or another technical environment.
- You can manage competing operational tasks while keeping documentation and stakeholders organised.
- You have experience with contracts, procurement, governance, reporting or related delivery activities.
- For APS6, you can demonstrate stronger ownership of project delivery, contracts and stakeholder coordination.
- You're an Australian citizen.
- You must hold a current Baseline clearance or above.

Nice to Have (Desirable Criteria)

- Public health, microbiology or laboratory qualifications, knowledge or experience.
- Public health surveillance or disease-surveillance experience.
- Experience working with technical data, laboratories, dashboards or reporting programs.
- Commonwealth health experience.
