Our consultancy partner is placing an AI automation engineer into a product company for 6 months, based in Melbourne. This engineer will be building production AI automation, not demos. Think Claude plus N8N (or UiPath), wired into real business processes like invoice processing. It's hands-on and a bit forward-deployed. You'd map the process with the client, decide what the AI handles versus what stays deterministic, then build it, test it and hand it over.
What you'll do
- Map manual processes and decide what gets automated, what stays deterministic code, and where Claude does the reasoning
- Build workflows in N8N (Workato or UiPath experience is a bonus) with Claude as the reasoning layer
- Design guardrails, retries, fallbacks and audit trails so one bad AI output never cascades
- Explain the architecture to non-technical stakeholders
What you bring
- Production experience with Claude or other LLMs
- Hands-on N8N or similar workflow tooling
- A disciplined AI-assisted engineering workflow
- A cost-aware mindset on tokens, model choice, and judge or evaluator layers
- Consulting-style communication, ideally some client-facing experience
- Ideally you can code and you're comfortable with fullstack software development processes
