The West Coast Eagles is an iconic Australian sporting brand with over 100,000 members. The Club formed in August 1986, playing its first official match for premiership points in 1987. Our women's side played its first game for AFLW premiership points in February 2020. Since then, the club has enjoyed significant success, winning premierships in 1992, 1994, 2006 and 2018. The club also has wide-spanning community and regional programs and is invested in a number of charity organisations, including the Waalitj Foundation.
About the role
The role brings the club’s creative direction and visual identity to life across static and motion design, translating our brand into dynamic, high-quality content across campaigns, game day, club events, digital channels, print, signage and fan experiences. This role focuses primarily on motion graphics and animation using Adobe After Effects and the wider Adobe Creative Cloud suite, with the versatility to support with static graphic design.
Reporting to the Design Manager responsibilities include:
- Create bold, on-brand motion content that brings the Club's creative direction and visual identity to life.
- Deliver game day content for Optus Stadium and interstate venues, ensuring assets meet technical specifications for big screen, ribbon, LED and digital signage displays.
- Create social, digital, broadcast and fan engagement content, including campaign animations, title sequences, transitions and short-form video assets.
- Develop motion concepts and creative solutions that support campaign objectives and bring the Club's stories, campaigns and experiences to life.
- Identify opportunities to enhance storytelling, audience engagement and fan experiences through innovative motion design and animation.
- Interpret briefs, clarify requirements and recommend the most effective creative approach for the audience, channel and objective.
- Ensure all graphic and motion output aligns with the Club's brand guidelines, visual identity and required technical specifications.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver innovative motion design solutions,
ensuring high-quality creative outcomes across digital, match day and club event experiences.
Due to the nature of the industry and this role, there is an inherent requirement to work home match days and other club events which will include working some evenings and weekends.
Our ideal person
This role will suit an individual that has the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
Additionally, you will have:
- Professional experience in motion design, graphic design or a hybrid creative role, or an outstanding portfolio showreel.
- Experience preparing production-ready artwork and rendering assets to specification for print, digital, broadcast, large-format and LED displays.
- Experience developing and adapting campaign creative across multiple channels, formats and audience touchpoints.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply brand guidelines and translate creative direction into compelling static and motion design.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clarify briefs and communicate project requirements, progress and risks.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Expert knowledge of Adobe After Effects, with solid motion design fundamentals including timing, easing, transitions, kinetic typography and sound synchronisation
- Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro for video editing, short-form cut-downs, sequencing and finishing.
- Advanced capabilities across the wider Adobe Creative Cloud suite; Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
- 3D motion knowledge (Cinema 4D or Blender) and static graphic design experience regarded favourably
- Tertiary qualification in graphic design, motion design or a related field is preferred but not essential.
