About the program

ACSO's Men's Reintegration Service program is a state-wide program delivering re-entry services to people in prison and the community in partnership with Queensland Corrective Service (QCS). The program provides support in collaboration with the client and focusing on resolving any barriers pertaining to their return to the community, the service will also promote a successful reintegration journey. The service delivery model comprises of intense pre-release support, throughcare post-release support for up to six months, and after-hours services, to achieve successful outcomes for the people we support.

About the position

Our Forensic Case Worker - Group Facilitator located in Capricornian Correctional Centre is responsible for delivering pre-release support to men currently in the custodial environment, including commencing processes and referrals for accommodation, personal identification and community-based supports. Additional responsibilities include processing applications, case note documentation, and the facilitation of group-based sessions focused on reintegration skills.

This position works exclusively in Capricornia Correctional Centre within set hours of 8am - 4pm.

Selection Criteria:

- A minimum Diploma-level qualification in a relevant field (Social Work, Justice, Psychology, Community Services and/or Welfare Studies), or significant relevant experience.

- Confidence in facilitating information sessions in a group setting (this is a key part of the role!)



- let us know your pre-existing skills in group facilitation or what transferable skills you have that suit group facilitation.Competence in using PC-based office applications (e.g. Microsoft Office) and the internet - tell us about what systems you've used.

- Ability to build positive relationships and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities, including utilisation of strong negotiation, advocacy, conflict resolution and mediation skills - please tell us about a time where you've used these skills with external stakeholders or clients.

- Demonstrated capacity to work flexibly, manage competing priorities, and effectively set boundaries and limits where required - share with us an example of how you've managed this.

- Prior experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people will be highly regarded.

As ACSO is an NDIS provider, the successful candidate must hold an NDIS Worker Screening Check Clearance before they commence employment in this position.
