We are located in Canning Vale, Perth, employing around 20 specialised engineers, technicians and trades personnel.
We are looking for a reliable Electrical Project Engineer to be responsible for all engineering and technical disciplines involved in projects.
You will schedule, plan, forecast, resource, and manage all the technical activities aiming at ensuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Delivery
- Support the delivery of electrical projects from design through to commissioning and handover.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, resource plans, and cost forecasts.
- Monitor project progress and proactively address risks, delays, and cost overruns.
- Coordinate construction activities to ensure milestones are achieved.
- Assist in preparing project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow requirements.
Electrical Engineering Coordination
- Review electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate design reviews and resolve technical queries.
- Ensure installations comply with project specifications, Australian Standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage Requests for Information (RFIs), technical submissions, and design changes.
- Support testing, commissioning, and energisation activities.
Procurement and Contract Administration
- Prepare material take-offs and procurement schedules.
- Source and procure electrical equipment and materials.
- Coordinate suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of works.
- Assist with subcontract administration, progress claims, and variation management.
- Provide technical support to project managers and site teams
- Monitor procurement costs against project budgets.
Site Coordination
- Liaise with construction teams, electrical supervisors, and subcontractors.
- Conduct site inspections to verify quality and progress.
- Coordinate outages, shutdowns,
and commissioning activities where required.
- Ensure site works are completed in accordance with approved methodologies and permits.
Quality Assurance
- Implement and monitor project quality management requirements.
- Review inspection and test plans (ITPs).
- Ensure all quality documentation is completed and maintained.
- Participate in audits and compliance inspections.
- Manage defects and corrective actions through to closeout.
Health, Safety and Environment (HSE)
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and company safety procedures.
- Participate in risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
- Conduct site safety inspections and audits.
- Investigate incidents and support corrective actions.
Stakeholder Management and Reporting
- Prepare weekly and monthly project reports.
- Track project performance against schedule and budget.
- Attend client, contractor, and internal project meetings.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
- Provide regular updates on project risks, issues, and opportunities.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- 3+ years' experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of electrical systems, installations, and commissioning processes.
- Sound understanding of Australian Standards and electrical regulations.
- Experience interpreting drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Project; and AutoCAD software.
Desirable
- Experience in commercial, industrial, mining, utilities, renewable energy, or infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of HV and LV electrical systems.
- Experience with substations, switchboards, transformers, and power distribution systems.
- Familiarity with contract administration and procurement processes.
- Project Management qualifications or training.
- Chartered Engineer status or eligibility for registration.
