The Role
The Technology Business Analyst owns the end-to-end requirements lifecycle across technology projects delivered by Technology at Covalent.
The role bridges business operations and technology delivery: Translating stakeholder needs into structured, traceable requirements and ensuring that implemented solutions are fit for purpose, sustainable, and adoptable by operational teams.
This position requires hands on engagement with stakeholders from across the business, working on multiple projects simultaneously and is an integral part of the Technology Projects teams' objective to deliver sustainable and fit for purpose solutions.
This is a two-year full-time fixed-term contract based at our Perth office, with regular travel to our Mt Holland site for approximately 1 to 2 weeks each month, depending on operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead business analysis activities across technology projects, from requirements gathering through to implementation and transition.
• Engage with stakeholders through workshops, interviews and consultation to understand business needs and define clear business, functional and non-functional requirements.
• Analyse complex business problems, processes and data to identify opportunities, risks, gaps and improvement initiatives.
• Develop current and future-state business processes and models to support effective technology solutions.
• Assess proposed technology solutions for business impact, feasibility, efficiency and alignment with business requirements.
• Maintain clear and accurate requirements, process maps and other BA documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work closely with Technology teams, vendors and business stakeholders throughout solution design, development, testing and implementation.
• Review vendor deliverables and solutions against agreed requirements, identifying and tracking defects, gaps and scope changes.
• Facilitate stakeholder discussions and workshops, building consensus and effectively communicating requirements, decisions and solution trade-offs.
• Support the transition of technology solutions into business and Technology support teams, including handover documentation, training and support requirements.
Role requirements
• Demonstrated experience with the full software application lifecycle, from initiation and requirements through to deployment and post-implementation support.
• Demonstrated experience with implementation of technology infrastructure solutions, from initiation and requirements through to deployment and post-implementation support.
• Minimum 5 years' experience delivering technology solutions within complex project environments; experience in mining, resources, or processing sectors is highly regarded.
• Demonstrated experience leading requirements definition involving diverse stakeholder groups — from executive sponsors to operational end users.
• Experience preparing Requirements Specifications and design inputs suitable for solution design and development.
• Experience defining, documenting, and communicating business processes using recognised modelling techniques (e.g. swim lane diagrams, BPMN).
• Experience developing and executing structured test plans, including unit, system, integration, and acceptance tests — and managing defect resolution through to close.
• Experience supporting organisational change management activities associated with technology implementations, including stakeholder communications and training inputs.
A competitive remuneration package commensurate with the role, candidate experience, skills and qualifications will be offered.
