About the role

Lotus Living Collective is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to join our team in Tweed Heads, NSW. This is a casual position with an immediate start, that offers a meaningful difference in the lives of people with disabilities. As a Disability Support Worker, you will be at the heart of our mission to provide person-centred support and enable individuals to live independently and participate fully in their communities.

This role is essential to delivering high-quality care and support that respects the dignity, autonomy and individual choices of those we serve.

Key responsibilities

- Provide direct personal care and assistance to individuals with disabilities, including support with daily living activities such as hygiene, dressing, meal preparation and medication reminders

- Support clients in accessing community activities, social events and recreational opportunities to promote social inclusion and wellbeing

- Assist with mobility support and safe handling techniques, utilising appropriate equipment and practices

- Maintain accurate and timely client records and documentation in accordance with organisational policies and legislative requirements

- Communicate effectively with clients, families, carers and multidisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated and person-centred support

- Promote client independence and encourage skill development through coaching and practical assistance

- Respond to client requests and concerns in a skilled, empathetic and culturally sensitive manner

- Maintain a protected and hygienic working environment, following health and safety protocols and infection control procedures





- Contribute to the development and review of individual support plans in collaboration with clients and care coordinators

What we're looking for

- Certificate III in Disability (or equivalent qualification) or demonstrated commitment to obtaining this qualification

- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain this before commencing employment

- NDIS Workers Clearance, Working with Children clearance and a valid National Police Clearance

- A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to person-centred care

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues

- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks whilst maintaining attention to detail

- Physical capability to provide hands-on support and mobility assistance, with knowledge of safe handling techniques

- Reliability, punctuality and flexibility to respond to changing support needs

- A non-judgmental, respectful approach that values diversity and promotes inclusion

- Previous experience working in aged care, disability support, health or related sectors is highly valued but not essential

- A valid driver's licence and access to reliable transport is desirable for this role
