About us

Women's Community Shelters is an Australian Service Excellence Standards Accredited Shelter. We follow a feminist approach and offer supportive work arrangements, including external professional supervision. We have an exciting opportunity to play a key role in establishing the Core and Cluster interim services that will provide case management support to women, with or without children, who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness as a result of domestic and family violence in the Southern Highlands.

About the role

Using a strengths-based approach, the Caseworker supports clients to identify and address their needs, assess and manage risk, develop and review safety and case plans, make informed choices and work towards their individual goals.

The interim outreach service will transition to a Core and Cluster shelter response once the accommodation build is complete. As the service develops, the role will evolve and requires flexibility to undertake duties within the employee's skills, competence and training.

Key responsibilities

- Support clients to identify and address their needs

- Assess and manage risk

- Develop and review safety and case plans

- Support clients to make informed choices

- Work with clients towards their individual goals

About you

- Social Work, Psychology, Community Services and/or a related Human Services field qualification

- Demonstrated understanding of client-centered and trauma-informed practice

- Ability to work with limited supervision and exercise judgement and initiative in a role with developing practices and processes

- Demonstrated understanding of the varying needs of women and children who come from diverse backgrounds and present with multiple and complex needs





- Experience in providing case management and coordinated services for women and children with complex needs

- Knowledge and understanding of domestic and family violence and homelessness, including the legal and social impacts on women and children and working in a best practice approach

- Robust administrative skills, including excellent written and oral communication skills and confidence with the MS Office applications

- High-level organisational skills, the ability to be flexible and set priorities and ensure adherence to service standards in a fast paced and changing environment

- Ability to think innovatively and creatively to develop tailored client solutions

- Ability to work autonomously and as a part of a cohesive, multidisciplinary team

Requirements

- Current first aid certificate or capacity to acquire one before commencement

- Current NSW driver's License

- Right to live and work in Australia with ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia

- National Police Check

- Working With Children Check

- COVID-19 vaccinations
