About the Company

Sleepy's has been helping Australians achieve a better night's sleep for decades. With a growing national footprint spanning retail stores, distribution and support functions, the business is focused on strengthening its capability, leadership and operational effectiveness.

As Sleepy's continues to evolve, there is a strong focus on ensuring its people, processes and ways of working support sustainable commercial success and an exceptional customer experience.

This newly created position reflects that ambition. It is a broad and influential role designed for someone who can move beyond traditional People & Culture boundaries to turn strategic priorities into practical, measurable outcomes.

About the Role

Based in Eagle Farm, the Change & Capability Manager will act as a trusted delivery partner, taking strategic priorities across people, stores and customer and driving them from idea through to implementation and adoption.

Your initial priority will be lifting the capability of Sleepy's Company Store Managers, bringing together capability development, senior HR business partnering, project delivery, change and adoption, and benefits realisation. We want to be known for the best onboarding experience in the industry and nurture our leaders with continual development.

Importantly, while you will own key HR outcomes, this is not a traditional HR role. You will operate as an organisational "fixer" - taking ambiguous ideas and complex business challenges, identifying what needs to happen and creating practical solutions that deliver commercial and operational results.

You will:

- Design and deliver capability programs aligned with Sleepy's Capability Framework, with an initial focus on Company Store Managers.
- Lead cross-functional business initiatives from scoping and planning through to implementation, adoption and benefits realisation.
- Develop practical blended,

digital and on-the-job learning solutions for a geographically dispersed retail workforce.
- Lead change, communication and engagement plans supporting enterprise initiatives, systems changes and operational improvements.
- Support the deployment and adoption of Standard Operating Procedures across the retail network and maintain them.
- Coach leaders to strengthen accountability, performance, talent development and succession.
- Manage the National Trainer and oversee outsourced HR activities to ensure seamless support to the business.
- Measure the impact of initiatives through tangible capability, operational, customer and commercial outcomes.

Success will be measured by what changes in the business - not simply by programs launched or plans produced.

About You

You are a commercially minded change and capability professional who enjoys turning complexity into action. You are equally comfortable working strategically with a CEO and senior leaders as you are getting into the detail required to make an initiative work across stores and frontline teams.

You will bring:

- Proven experience delivering capability uplift and organisational effectiveness initiatives, ideally within retail or another operational, multi-site environment.
- Strong contemporary project and change management capability, including adoption measurement and benefits realisation.
- Experience as an HR Business Partner or senior people adviser within a complex, fast-moving organisation.
- Demonstrated success embedding new ways of working across geographically dispersed or frontline workforces.

- Experience taking ambiguous or complex business challenges and driving them through to practical, commercial outcomes.
- Strong learning and instructional design capability, supported by an understanding of adult learning principles.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills, including credibility with senior leaders.
- Strong commercial and analytical acumen, with the ability to connect people, capability and change initiatives to business performance.
- A proactive, autonomous and pragmatic approach, with the confidence to operate with minimal oversight.

Exposure to retail operations, customer experience or broader commercial functions will be highly regarded.

The Benefits

This is a rare opportunity to step into a role with genuine access to the CEO and a mandate extending well beyond a conventional People & Culture position.

You will have the prospect to shape how Sleepy's develops its leaders, builds organisational capability and successfully embeds change, while taking ownership of broader strategic initiatives that influence stores, customers and commercial performance.

For an ambitious leader seeking broader business exposure, the role also provides an opportunity to build experience relevant to a future general management or COO-level career path, an aspiration specifically identified within the position description.

If you are energised by ambiguous challenges, enjoy building solutions from the ground up and want to see the measurable impact of your work, this is an opportunity to make a lasting contribution to Sleepy's next stage of growth.
