About the Role:
Join ACT Pathology and play a vital role in delivering diagnostic services that support patient care across Canberra and the surrounding region. Based at North Canberra Hospital, you will be part of a professional and collaborative laboratory team providing essential testing services around the clock. ACT Pathology delivers trusted diagnostic and consultative expertise to hospitals, specialists, general practitioners and the wider community, making a direct contribution to healthcare outcomes every day.
We are looking for a motivated Laboratory Scientist who combines technical expertise with strong organisational and communication skills. You will be adaptable, solutions-focused and committed to maintaining high professional standards in a fast-paced environment. The successful applicant will be confident working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, building positive relationships while responding effectively to changing service demands.
Working across Clinical Chemistry, Haematology, Coagulation and Transfusion Medicine, you will perform diagnostic testing, prepare and process specimens, maintain laboratory instrumentation and contribute to quality assurance activities.
You will also support the development of junior staff, participate in laboratory rotations, and contribute to a continuous 24/7 service through rostered shift work, including nights and weekends. This is an excellent opportunity to broaden your experience in a diverse laboratory setting while helping ensure accurate and timely results for clinicians and patients.
Pathology allowance may apply, if applicable as defined in the ACT Public Sector Health Professional Enterprise Agreement, Section C. The pathology allowance ranges from $5,581 - $8,759 p.a.
