- Open doors with a premium global brand and an established customer base
- Take ownership of sales growth, backed by market data and technical expertise
- Grow your career with opportunities across Australia and overseas
Your sales expertise. A new sector. Room to grow.
You've built your career selling mechanical equipment, industrial products or engineering services. You know how to open doors, develop customer relationships and win business. Now, bring that experience into wind energy with a business that gives you the brand reputation, resources and support to succeed.
PERSOL Executive is partnering with a leading global OEM to appoint a Business Development Manager for its growing wind aftermarket business. Based in Melbourne, you'll develop business with wind farm owners and operators across Australia and New Zealand, representing a premium, internationally recognised brand.
Previous wind or renewable energy experience is not required. We're looking for strong sales capability, mechanical understanding and the ambition to make your mark.
About the business
Our client is a global leader in mechanical drive technology, with more than a century of engineering expertise and a reputation for quality and reliability. Its established presence in the wind industry and extensive installed equipment base provide a strong foundation for aftermarket growth.
With significant investment in its Australian workshop and service capabilities, the business offers the backing of an established global OEM alongside the opportunity to influence local growth.
The opportunity
You'll have established customer relationships, market data and experienced technical specialists behind you. Your role is to turn that foundation into sales by identifying opportunities, broadening relationships and helping customers understand the value of the business's aftermarket services.
This is a role for someone who enjoys getting out into the market,
asking the right questions and taking ownership of business development. There is scope to contribute ideas, shape your approach and demonstrate your impact within a global organisation.
What you'll do
- Use available market and customer data to prioritise accounts and develop a targeted sales plan.
- Win new business with wind farm owners, operators and asset owners while growing underdeveloped accounts.
- Visit customer sites to understand equipment, operational challenges and service requirements.
- Build relationships across maintenance, engineering, operations, procurement and commercial teams.
- Identify opportunities for aftermarket services, repairs and longer-term service partnerships.
- Work with technical and commercial colleagues to develop proposals, present solutions and negotiate business.
- Maintain clear account plans, an accurate pipeline and reliable sales forecasts.
The role is based in Melbourne's northern suburbs and involves regular interstate travel, with occasional travel to New Zealand.
What you'll bring
Your background may include pumps, compressors, motors, gearboxes, bearings, power transmission, mechanical equipment, industrial maintenance or engineering services.
You can demonstrate how you've grown a territory, opened new accounts or expanded existing customer relationships. You understand the sales process and know how to move an opportunity from an initial conversation to a commercial result.
We're looking for:
- Proven success in business development and sales growth with industrial end users.
- Mechanical aptitude and confidence discussing customers' equipment and operating needs.
- A structured approach to prioritising accounts, identifying decision-makers and progressing opportunities.
- The ability to build relationships on site and across technical and commercial teams.
- Initiative, commercial judgement and the drive to manage your territory independently.
- A willingness to learn the wind sector and travel to meet customers.
An engineering or trade qualification would be advantageous, but practical mechanical understanding and demonstrated sales success are central to this appointment.
You don't need to have every technical answer. Experienced specialists will support you with complex technical requirements and commercial agreements. Your contribution is to recognise opportunities, involve the right people and drive the sales process forward.
Why join?
- Premium brand: Represent a respected global OEM with established credibility and customer relationships.
- Autonomy: Take ownership of your accounts and help shape how the business approaches the market.
- Local and international career opportunities: Build your expertise in wind energy and grow your career with potential pathways into broader roles across Australia and overseas.
- Investment and growth: Join a business expanding its local service capability.
- Experienced support: Work alongside technical, operational and commercial colleagues.
- Rewarding bonus potential: Company vehicle plus a 20% target bonus, with the potential to earn up to three times the target bonus for exceptional performance.
