We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and dedicated Family Wellbeing Practitioner to join our Family Wellbeing team.
About the Role
The Family Wellbeing Practitioner works collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and families to provide strengths-based, culturally safe support that promotes family wellbeing, resilience and connection.
This outreach-based role places children and families at the centre of practice. The Family Wellbeing Practitioner will work alongside families to understand their stories, identify strengths and challenges, develop family-led goals, and support families to access the services and resources they need.
The role involves providing practical and emotional support to families experiencing complex circumstances, including engagement with families involved with or at risk of involvement with the child protection system. The Family Wellbeing Practitioner will use a trauma-informed and culturally responsive approach to support families to build capacity,
strengthen relationships and create positive outcomes for children.
The Family Wellbeing Practitioner will work in partnership with families, community, government departments, and other service providers to ensure families receive coordinated and holistic support.
Duties
The successful applicant will:
Maintain a caseload of families and provide individualised family support, casework, group activities and community-based projects.
Build solid, trusting relationships with children, young people, families and community members.
Complete collaborative assessments with families to identify strengths, needs, risks and goals.
Support families to develop and work towards family-led case plans that promote safety, wellbeing and positive outcomes for children.
Provide information, advocacy, referral pathways and practical support to connect families with appropriate services.
Apply culturally safe, trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches when working with families experiencing complex challenges.
Support families to navigate systems including child protection, health, education, housing, disability and community services.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with government agencies, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, community services and other stakeholders.
Maintain accurate case notes, reports, documentation and data entry in accordance with professional standards and organisational requirements.
Participate in individual supervision, group supervision, team meetings, reflective practice and case reviews.
Contribute to continuous improvement and the development of culturally responsive family support practices.

You are passionate about walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and families and are committed to supporting families through respectful, culturally safe and empowering practice.
You bring a strengths-based approach and understand that meaningful change occurs through trust, relationships, collaboration and family-led decision making.
You thrive in a supportive team environment and value working alongside community, families and stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
To be successful in this role you will possess
Relevant qualifications, e.g. bachelor's degree in human services, social work, psychology. At minimum a Diploma in youth, family or community services with significant experience in this field of work.
Demonstrated understanding of the factors that contribute to intergenerational trauma and the challenges faced by families, with the ability to respond with empathy and insight.
Experience working within family support, child protection, youth work, community services, social work, psychology, education, or a related field.
Ability to complete assessments, case notes, reports and documentation to a high standard.

Mandatory:

Current valid Queensland drivers' licence.
