Due to continued growth within our Energy & Utilities business, we are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our Power team.
In this role, you will provide technical leadership and deliver high quality civil engineering solutions for substation and transmission infrastructure projects.
You will be responsible for undertaking civil design activities, managing project deliverables, mentoring team members, engaging with stakeholders and subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and to the highest standards.
Key responsibilities include:Leading the civil design of utility substation and transmission infrastructure projectsDeveloping substation layouts, earthworks, drainage and oil containment systemsProviding technical guidance and mentoring to Civil DesignersPreparing scopes of work, bill of quantities and procurement packagesSupporting project planning, reporting, RFIs and variationsEnsuring designs meet client requirements, industry standards and legislative obligationsConducting constructability reviews and value engineering assessmentsManaging subcontractor deliverables and reviewing progress claimsPromoting and demonstrating Downer's Zero Harm culture across all project activities.
What We're Looking ForTo be successful, you will bring significant experience delivering complex civil engineering solutions within the power sector, along with strong technical capability and leadership skills.




You will possess:Qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related disciplineExperience delivering civil design for substation and transmission infrastructure projectsStrong knowledge of earthworks, drainage, access roads, oil containment and erosion control systemsExperience using industry recognised design software including AutoCAD and MicroStationSound understanding of transmission and distribution network infrastructureStrong communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship building skillsDemonstrated experience leading and mentoring technical teamsExcellent organisational and time management capabilitiesCommitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
