About Us
5GN Group is a collective of companies, including 5G Networks, a licensed telecommunications carrier providing network and data centre services across Australia and internationally, and AUCyber, a Managed Service Provider (MSP) and Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) specialising in IT solutions for mid-market corporate clients and government entities.
Our vision is to empower all organisations, regardless of size, with access to fit-for-purpose, secure IT and telecommunications solutions that support the achievement of their own strategic objectives.
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex IT infrastructure projects across networking, servers, data centre and critical infrastructure environments.
This role is ideal for someone who combines strong project management capability with enough technical understanding to confidently manage engineers, vendors, customers and other stakeholders through complex infrastructure deployments.
You'll take ownership of projects from initial planning and design coordination through procurement, implementation, testing, commissioning and handover, ensuring projects are delivered safely, professionally and with strong control around scope, schedule, budget and risk.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead end-to-end delivery of complex infrastructure projects across networks, servers, data centres and critical infrastructure
Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, risks, dependencies and resource requirements
Coordinate internal technical teams, field engineers, vendors, subcontractors and customer stakeholders
Manage infrastructure deployments including switching, routing, firewalls, wireless, servers, storage and associated infrastructure
Work closely with technical teams to understand solution designs, implementation requirements and project dependencies
Coordinate equipment procurement, logistics, staging,
installation, configuration, testing and commissioning
Maintain strong project governance, including RAID registers, status reporting, change control and project documentation
Proactively manage scope creep, variations and project overruns, ensuring changes are identified, documented and commercially managed
Identify delivery risks and technical dependencies early and drive them through to resolution
Manage projects within live, operational and business-critical environments where downtime and change must be carefully controlled
Coordinate with construction, facilities, electrical and other trades where technology infrastructure forms part of a broader build or fit-out
Provide transparent and concise project reporting to customers, operational leadership and senior stakeholders
Ensure successful project handover into operational and managed service teams
About You
You're an experienced Technical Project Manager who understands that successful infrastructure delivery requires more than maintaining a project plan.
You can get into the detail when required, challenge assumptions, anticipate problems and keep technical and non-technical stakeholders aligned.
You'll ideally bring:
Demonstrated experience managing complex IT infrastructure projects
Strong experience with network infrastructure, including switching, routing, wireless, firewalls and related technologies
Experience delivering server, compute, storage and data centre infrastructure projects
Experience working within critical infrastructure, data centre,
construction or highly available operational environments
Strong understanding of the infrastructure implementation lifecycle, from design and procurement through deployment, testing and handover
Experience coordinating multiple technical disciplines, vendors and subcontractors
Strong commercial awareness, including budgeting, forecasting, variations and scope management
Excellent risk, issue and dependency management skills
Strong customer and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to communicate confidently at an executive level
Ability to translate technical issues into clear business impacts and decisions
A practical, organised and outcome-focused approach to project delivery
Highly Regarded
Experience working within an MSP, systems integrator or technology services organisation
Experience delivering greenfield infrastructure, office fit-outs, data centres or major site deployments
Cisco networking experience or familiarity with enterprise networking environments
Experience coordinating projects involving electrical, communications, racks, cabling, power, cooling or physical infrastructure
Understanding of ITIL and operational service transition
PMP, PRINCE2, Agile or equivalent project management certification
Technical certifications across networking, infrastructure, cloud or security
What Success Looks Like
You'll be successful in this role if you can take a complex technical project with multiple moving parts and create structure, maintain control and drive it through to completion.
You'll keep scope, commercial outcomes and risks visible, ensure the right technical resources are engaged at the right time, communicate clearly with customers, and make sure there are no surprises as projects move from design through to implementation and ultimately into BAU operations.
