The Role
The Logistics Officer at Port Wakefield supports the management of equipment, materials, and warehouse operations for JPEU.
The role involves maintaining stores, ordering and tracking supplies, receiving and inspecting deliveries, managing inventory records, conducting stocktakes, and ensuring stock is stored safely and efficiently.
The position works closely with suppliers and purchasing staff, assists with procurement and invoice processes, and provides supply chain updates to stakeholders.
Responsibilities also include relocating stock, maintaining storage areas and equipment, processing requisitions, and delivering materials when required.
The role requires adherence to Defence procurement policies, workplace safety procedures, risk management requirements, and general warehouse maintenance to ensure effective and efficient logistics support.
About our Team
The logistics Q Store teams provide support for operational activities at the Joint Proof & Experimental Unit (JPEU).
The Q Store team functions are critical to the supply chain at JPEU.
The team provides warehousing and distribution support, as well as providing governance of unit-owned equipment through mandated programs such as cyclic stocktaking and ROMAN asset counts.




We work with a variety of stakeholders to ensure they are supported in all their logistics requirements, including the procurement of equipment from commercial suppliers.
Q Stores also works closely with other support sections to ensure we maintain calibrated equipment for use on the range.
Q Store teams work on a number of IT systems such ERP, SharePoint and Objective.
Our Ideal Candidate
A strong understanding of inventory and management processes and practices
Possess solid verbal and non-verbal communication skills, and the ability to build positive working relationships with a range of stakeholders
Make positive contributions to a small team, building and sustaining effective professional relationships with team members
Take the initiative to learn and develop their understanding of logistics procedures, legislation, policy and regulatory frameworks
Possess strong IT skills
The right person for this role will show the flexibility to respond to the changing context and shifting priorities of JPEU, to achieve business outcomes.
In this role, the individual will provide support to a geographically dispersed team.
