Disability support worker- Aboriginal Identified Person
Harmony nursing and support services Pty Ltd – Meadow Heights VIC
Harmony Nursing and Support Services is seeking a young, energetic and engaging Aboriginal Disability Support Worker to provide 1:1 support and mentoring to a 10-year-old Aboriginal boy with ASD and ADHD.
This role is focused on building a positive, trusting relationship while supporting the participant to access the community, participate in activities and strengthen his connection to culture.
About the role
You will support the participant with:
Community access and social activitiesAttending Aboriginal community programs, youth groups and cultural activitiesPositive mentoring and role modellingBuilding confidence, independence and everyday life skillsParticipating in active and recreational activitiesSupporting emotional regulation and positive engagementDeveloping a consistent and trusted support relationship
About you
We are looking for someone who is:
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait IslanderPreferably a young male support worker who can provide positive mentoring and cultural connectionActive, outgoing,



patient and reliableConfident working with children and young peopleExperienced with, or knowledgeable about, Autism, ADHD and behaviours of concernPassionate about supporting Aboriginal children and young people to stay connected to community and culture
Requirements
Successful applicants will require:
NDIS Worker Screening CheckWorking With Children CheckCurrent First Aid & CPRReliable vehicle and appropriate insuranceRelevant disability/community services experience or qualifications are highly regarded
