SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE OFFICER - CIVIL / EARTHWORKSSafety & Compliance Officer – Civil / EarthworksLocation: Various locations across Sydney | On-site & Office BasedWe are seeking an experienced Safety & Compliance Officer with a robust background in civil construction and earthworks to join our team.This is a hands‐on role suited to someone who understands the day‐to‐day operations of civil and earthworks projects, heavy machinery, operators, subcontractors and site compliance.About the RoleWorking across various civil and earthworks projects throughout Sydney, you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining our safety, compliance and project documentation systems.The role will involve a combination of site-based and office-based work.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and maintain WHS and compliance systems across civil and earthworks projectsConduct regular site inspections, audits and compliance checksMonitor safety and compliance relating to excavators, dump trucks, water carts, loaders, graders, rollers and other civil plantMaintain plant and machinery compliance records, inspections and documentationCoordinate SWMS, JSA/JHA, risk assessments and other safety documentationMonitor operator qualifications, licences, competencies and required documentationManage contractor and subcontractor complianceInvestigate incidents and assist with corrective and preventative actionsMaintain safety, plant and compliance registersPrepare documentation for project prequalification and client requirementsUpload plant,



machinery and company compliance documentation to external project portalsAssist with internal and external auditsEnsure project documentation remains current and compliantWork closely with project managers, supervisors, operators and management to maintain site complianceAbout YouThe ideal candidate will have hands‐on experience within civil construction and/or earthworks and understand how a busy civil site operates.You will have:Proven experience in civil construction / earthworksStrong understanding of civil plant, heavy machinery and site operationsPrevious experience in a safety, compliance or WHS role within the civil industryExperience working with plant and machinery complianceExperience with ISO management systems, preferably ISO ***** and/or ISO ****Experience conducting site inspections, audits and risk assessmentsStrong knowledge of WHS requirements relevant to civil constructionExperience managing subcontractor and contractor complianceStrong administration and documentation skillsExcellent attention to detail and organisationAbility to work between site and office environmentsStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with site crews and managementThe Right PersonWe are looking for someone who understands civil and earthworks from the ground up — someone comfortable walking a site, talking with operators and supervisors, checking machinery and documentation, identifying compliance issues and following them through to resolution.This is not purely an office-based compliance position.
Civil/earthworks industry experience is highly valued.Salary: $90,000 – $100,000 + super, depending on experience.
