Full training will be provided to the right person.This is an opportunity to learn a specialised skill and build a long-term career in the underground utility locating industry.We are looking for someone who is practical, reliable, keen to learn and takes pride in doing their job properly.
Previous experience in civil construction, electrical, plumbing, telecommunications, surveying, earthmoving or a similar trade would be an advantage, but it is not essential.ABOUT THE ROLEYou will be trained to locate and identify underground services before excavation, drilling and construction work takes place.The role involves working across a wide variety of civil, construction, commercial and infrastructure projects throughout Cairns and Far North Queensland.You will learn how to:Locate underground electrical, communications, water, sewer, stormwater and other servicesUse specialised electromagnetic locating equipmentUse Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)Read and interpret underground service plans and BYDA informationUnderstand how different underground services are installed and identifiedMark underground services accurately on siteRecord service depths and locationsTake clear photographs and maintain accurate field recordsPrepare professional underground service locating reportsAssist with the verification of underground services using hydro-vac / non-destructive diggingCommunicate professionally with clients,



contractors and site personnelComplete site safety documentation including JSEA/JSA requirementsWork safely around civil construction sites and underground infrastructureCare for and maintain specialised locating equipment and company vehiclesInitially, you will work alongside an experienced locator while completing on-the-job training.
