MIGAS is proud to be partnering with Anglo American, one of Australia's largest suppliers of quality steelmaking coal with a focus on safety and sustainability.
n
Undertaking this school-based apprenticeship at Aquila Mine, 32km south of Middlemount in central Queensland, will give you the opportunity to start your UEE***** Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician.
n
Aquila Mine has been developed as one Australia's most technologically advanced underground mines, leveraging Anglo American's advancements in underground automation technology, remote operations and data analytics.
n
As a School-Based Electrical Apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced tradespeople while beginning the journey to develop the practical skills and knowledge required to become a qualified electrician.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will learn how to:
n

Install, service, maintain, repair, isolate, test, and commission a range of electrical systems and fixed infrastructure used in the coal mining industry
n
Work with advanced technologies, including high-voltage electrical equipment, communications systems, and backup power infrastructure
n




Apply industry-leading safety practices and develop valuable trade skills in a real-world mining environment
n

This opportunity is designed for students who are currently attending school and are interested in pursuing a rewarding career in the electrical trade.
n
You will work one day per week (5:30am to 5:30pm) while continuing your secondary studies, with the apprenticeship commencing at the beginning of ****.

About You

You will bring a passion for the trade and be willing to listen, learn and actively seek out new learning opportunities
n
Ability to work well in a team
n
You will possess a valuable level of language, literacy and numeracy skills
n
A strong focus on safety
n
Be enrolled in Year 10 and starting Year 11 in ****
n
Have a strong interest in electrical work
n
Hold or near completion of obtaining a Certificate II in Electrotechnology would be advantageous
n
Have the ability to obtain a Health Assessment under the Coal Mine Workers' Health Scheme), Standard 11 mining induction program, Drug and Alcohol test, and Police Check
n
Residing in Middlemount is essential
