Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and collaborative Workplace Health and Safety Coordinator to support our schools in creating safe, healthy and positive environments for staff and students.
n
In this role, you will provide practical health, safety and wellbeing advice, support risk management and incident response, and coordinate rehabilitation and return-to-work processes for ill or injured staff. You will work closely with school leadership, regional teams and corporate partners to strengthen safety practices and promote a positive safety culture.

This position is being offered in a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.40FTE), 29 hours per fortnight.

About Us

Woogaroo Creek State School is a state primary school located in Augustine Heights, catering for students from Prep to Year 6. Established in ****, our contemporary school provides a welcoming learning environment for children and families in the local community. Our facilities include modern administration and classroom spaces, a Discovery Centre (Library), music precinct, multi-purpose hall and stage, canteen, teaching kitchen, sporting field and multi-purpose courts.

Students also have access to Rocky's Reserve , an outdoor environmental area, as well as our garden and orchard, providing opportunities for learning and connection with the natural setting. The school takes its name from Woogaroo Creek , which forms the natural eastern boundary of our grounds. The creek is a significant local waterway that flows towards the Brisbane River and holds important cultural and historical significance for the area.

This connection to place is reflected throughout our school identity, including our colours,
logo and student and staff uniforms. Our four school houses celebrate the local flora surrounding the school: Acacia (yellow), Banksia (green), Melaleuca (blue) and Grevillea (red).

Your Opportunity
n
n
Continuously improve the local implementation of the department's Health, Safety and Wellbeing Management System (HSWMS) to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry best practices.
n
Provide support to the nominated schools in health and safety including risk management, incident reporting and review and the rehabilitation and return to work coordination of ill or injured staff.

Responsibilities

Provide health, safety and wellbeing advice to staff and school leadership.
n
Support risk management, audits, inspections and emergency preparedness.
n
Coordinate injury management, rehabilitation and return-to-work processes.
n
Monitor WHS data and identify emerging risks and improvement opportunities.
n
Deliver safety training, induction and awareness activities.
n
Support incident, occupational violence and critical incident responses.
n
Provide fire safety advice and ensure HSWMS compliance.
n
Prepare reports and recommendations to strengthen safety practices and culture.
n
