OVERVIEW OF ROLE

Advanced Navigation enters a new phase of Growth and International expansion. The Software Platforms team is on a mission to develop software to ensure that our products are the most reliable, high performance navigation products in the world. As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer you will be instrumental in realising this ambition, developing software to solve real world problems.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
n
n
Develop embedded software for our navigation product range
n
Work closely with the Product Manager to ensure project requirements are being met, timelines are realistic and being adhered to and also the engineering designs meet requirements
n
Work with team members to grow the collective skills of the entire team
n
Work closely with a passionate team of engineers, developing embedded C/C++ real-time applications
n
Collaborate with our hardware team to ensure hardware designs meet software requirements
n
Be involved in the design process for future products
n
Proactively adopt and utilise modern AI-assistance tools to optimise coding workflows and problem-solving.
n
Develop software tools, diagnostics, and infrastructure to support hardware bring-up, factory testing, and manufacturing processes.
n
Develop software in compliance with relevant international, regional, and industry-specific standards and regulatory frameworks.
n
Take ownership and responsibility for a component of a project and manage deadlines and reporting for the component.
n




Deliver quality software solutions to agreed schedules and deadlines
n
Be involved in the design process for future products
n
Proactively adopt and utilise modern AI-assistance tools to optimise coding workflows and problem-solving.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
n
n
Degree qualified Engineer with specialisation in computer systems, software, mechatronics or similar
n
Be comfortable deep diving into technical topics and learning current skills to solve new problems
n
A track record of turning high level discussions into detailed, personal work plans and reporting progress to management
n
A proactive self-starting approach with a track record of initiative, personal responsibility, ownership of work and reputation for making things happen
n
Be highly motivated with an energetic, responsive and decisive disposition;
n
Proven high standard of attention to detail, time management and "follow-through".
n

Desired Experience:
n
n
Comfortable with Linux and containerised applications.
n
Have 6+ years of engineering experience with complex C/C++ embedded software products
n
Have experience with embedded systems and microcontrollers
n




Real-time application development
n
Have experience with low power electronics and microcontrollers
n
Have experience with all stages of the product development cycle, concept development, R&D;, design and planning
n
Have experience releasing production quality software
n
Experience with FreeRTOS real-time operating system
n
ST MIcrocontrollers STM32 low-level programming experience
n
n

Experience with ARM Cortex-A53 microprocessors within FPGA system-on-chip (SoC) environments, specifically targeting AMD/Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC platforms.

Experience with the Yocto Project build system for configuring and deploying custom embedded Linux distributions.
