Lead the Future of Track Management at Strathalbyn Racing Club

Are you an experienced turf professional with a passion for thoroughbred racing, strong leadership skills and a commitment to maintaining exceptional racing and training surfaces? Strathalbyn Racing Club is seeking a hands-on Track Manager / Curator to lead the maintenance, preparation and ongoing development of our racecourse, training tracks and grounds. This is a unique opportunity to join one of South Australia's most picturesque country racing clubs at an exciting time in its history. Established in ****, Strathalbyn Racing Club is surrounded by rolling hills, scenic valleys and renowned vineyards. The Club is entering a significant period of growth, with Racing SA investing in an 11-hectare expansion.

Position Overview
n
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Track Manager / Curator is responsible with their team for the maintenance and preparation of the racecourse, training tracks, and grounds. This leadership role requires a hands-on professional who values teamwork, safety, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
n

Oversee and coordinate all aspects of track and grounds preparation for race meetings and training in consultation with the CEO and team.
n
Implement and uphold WHS standards, SafeWork SA's Code of Practice, and SRC policies to ensure a safe working environment.
n
Apply expertise in turf management, including irrigation, fertilisation,



herbicide application, and surface renovation programming.
n
Lead, supervise, and support outdoor staff (casual and permanent).
n
Maintain the racecourse, training tracks, and club grounds to the highest standards.
n
Perform and oversee repairs and maintenance of buildings, structures, and assets to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
n
Operate, maintain, and service irrigation systems and machinery efficiently.
n
Manage expenditure in liaison with the CEO.
n
Stay updated on industry advancements and innovations in turf management.
n
Work with the Trainers and various stakeholders in providing a great Training Track Environment.
n
Maintain all horse areas and holding stalls to the highest WHS standards
n
Manage a budget and all Track costs.
n
Maintain all assets and infrastructure, for long term sustainability.
