Job Description
Senior Research Fellow - Health Economics n
The Senior Research Fellow is responsible building a sustainable health economics capability within the Institute. They will provide expert economic evaluation and health services research capability. The role will also collaborate with other researchers and clinicians to evaluate the clinical, economic and societal impact of healthcare interventions, models of care and research initiatives. The position leads their own stream of grant development, peer-reviewed publications and translation of evidence into policy and practice.

Key responsibilities
n
Provide methodological leadership and develop an independent and collaborative research program in the area of health economics.
n
Lead study design, protocol development and statistical analysis plans.
n
Lead research translation activities to maximise impact on healthcare policy and practice.
n
Develop publications and supervise and mentor students and early-career researchers.
n
Develop and lead competitive grant applications both individually and in collaboration with researchers and clinicians.
n
Provide health economic methodologies for research proposals and develop economic components of NHMRC, MRFF and other funding applications.
n
Conduct complex health economics impact analysis including budget-impact analysis, health service business cases and return on investment analysis.
n
Conduct cost benefit analysis, cost effectiveness and budget impact analysis and lead economic evaluations.

About you
n
PhD in Health Economics, Economics, Public Health or related discipline.
n




Demonstrated expertise in health economic evaluation and applied health services research.
n
Evidence of successful grant applications.
n
Demonstrated research leadership and people leadership experience.
n
Evidence of peer-reviewed journal publications.
n
Demonstrated experience conducting health economic evaluations.
n
Experience analysing linked health datasets and administrative health data.
n
Knowledge of Australian health systems, funding models and policy workplace.
n
Advanced statistical and economic modelling skills and experience using software such as R, Stata, SAS, Python, TreeAge, or Excel-based economic models.
n
Understanding of implementation science and outcomes research methodologies.
