Job Description
An established national civil contractor is looking for an experienced Heavy Diesel Fitter to join their fleet maintenance team in a permanent position.

This is not your standard workshop-based mechanic role. Approximately 95% of your time will be spent in the field, travelling across Victoria and interstate to support equipment operating on major civil and infrastructure projects.
n
You'll work across a genuinely varied fleet, from heavy road transport through to earthmoving equipment, vacuum trucks and specialist directional drills.

The work
n
You'll be responsible for keeping a diverse fleet maintained and operational across project sites.
n
Your duties will include:
n
n
Scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance
n
Mechanical repairs and diagnostics
n
Attending breakdowns and completing field repairs
n
Mechanical and hydraulic fault finding
n
Heavy road transport maintenance and repairs
n
Maintaining civil and earthmoving equipment
n
Inspections and preventative maintenance
n
Larger repairs and rebuilds when required
n
Working autonomously across different project locations
n

The fleet
n
You'll get exposure to equipment including:
n
n
Volvo, Mack and Isuzu heavy trucks
n
Vermeer and Ditch Witch directional drills
n
CASE excavators and loaders, skid steers / bobcats
n
Light vehicles
n
n
What we're looking for
n
You'll ideally have:
n
n
Australian-recognised Heavy Diesel / Diesel Mechanic trade qualification
n
2-3+ years' post-trade experience
n
Experience across heavy vehicles, mobile plant or civil equipment
n
Strong mechanical, hydraulic and diagnostic skills
n
Ability to work independently in the field
n
Current driver's licence
n
Willingness to travel extensively and spend extended periods working away
n
Ability to complete a pre-employment medical and National Police Check
n
n
Previous field service experience, an HC licence, Dogman ticket, Auto Electrical experience or exposure to directional drilling equipment will be highly regarded.
