The Redemptorists are a not-for-profit organisation who have been serving the Australian community since ****, offering compassionate support to people of all walks of life.We are a religious congregation of priests and brothers within the Catholic Church who live in community for the sake of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, especially among people on the margins of society and church.
Founded in southern Italy in **** by St Alphonsus Liguori, we are in a majority of countries across the world and also known as The Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer.As a Catholic missionary, values-driven organisation, focused on partnering with laity, all roles contribute to the mission.The Redemptorist Kew Formation House is comprised of professed students, deacons, priests, mission partners and staff who are inspired to live and share St Alphonsus' charism of bringing God's Good News to the neglected and the poor.
We even have a community library specialising in Moral Theology and Social Justice.
Our house of studies is where Redemptorists continue their formation for Apostolic Life in the twenty-first century.
Like all Redemptorist houses, the Formation House is also a house of outreach.
Our students spare time is spent gaining experience in pastoral ministries at different parishes and Redemptorist missions.
Outreach is not confined to the students.
The whole community reaches out by way of pastoral care for local people in nursing homes, hospitals and by providing Eucharist, sacraments and pastoral support for those in need.About the roleThe Bursar is responsible for the day-to-day financial administration of the Redemptorist house in Kew, ensuring accurate financial records, compliance with policies and procedures,
and timely reporting.
This role provides bookkeeping, banking, payroll coordination, and financial administration services that support the operational and pastoral mission of the Redemptorist community in Kew, through skilled stewardship of funds, accurate record-keeping, and effective financial management.
The bursar works alongside the house manager and the community leader to manage and maintain good stewardship of the community finances.
The position will be offered as a permanent part-time position (12 hours per week) over agreed business days (Monday to Friday).
Key responsibilitiesMaintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using Xero Accounting SoftwareProcess accounts payable and receivable, including supplier invoices, payments, and receiptingManage and ensure all transactions are appropriately recorded and reconciledMonitor cash flow and provide regular updates on the financial position of the communityPerform reconciliation of cash collections, donations, offerings, and other incomeSupport payroll requirements in accordance with legal and organisational requirementsEnsure payroll obligations are met accurately and on timePrepare financial reports, including Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets,
and other reports as requiredMonitor expenditure and ensure spending remains within approved budget allocationsAssist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activitiesIdentify and communicate financial risks or concerns to the Community's Leader of MissionEnsure compliance with financial management policies, procedures and applicable legislationMaintain accurate supporting documentation for all financial transactionsEmployment OfferCompetitive remuneration - up to $33 per hour plus 12% super with 17.5% annual leave loadingFlexibility to work during school hours and fully based in the Kew officeWorking for a reputable, longstanding, values-based organisationAbout youCommitment to supporting and working within the values and mission of the Catholic ChurchProven experience in bookkeeping, financial administration, or a similar accounting support roleStrong working knowledge of Xero Accounting and some knowledge of Deputy payroll softwareExperience with payroll and managing related recordsExcellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keepingStrong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasksHigh level of integrity, discretion, and confidentialityAbility to work independently while maintaining effective communication with key stakeholdersStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly ExcelWe are committed to being a safe place for children and vulnerable people.
