We're now looking for an experienced Machinist / Tradesperson to join our Machine Shop team in Kewdale.
n
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified and experienced machinist who enjoys working with precision machinery, solving problems and being part of a highly skilled team.

About the role
n
As a Machinist at RMS, you'll play an important role in the refurbishment and regeneration of mechanical components, helping return critical components to optimal working condition.
n
You'll work across a variety of machining and refurbishment projects, using both manual and CNC machinery and applying your trade skills to achieve high-quality, exact results.
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Machining and refurbishment of engine and mechanical components
n
Setting up and operating manual and CNC machinery
n
Operating manual lathes and milling machines
n
Working to tight tolerances and engineering specifications
n
Interpreting technical drawings and specifications
n




Inspecting components and identifying defects or issues
n
Carrying out modifications and repairs to components where required
n
Maintaining and servicing machinery, tooling and equipment
n
Completing job reports and relevant production documentation
n
Troubleshooting machining and production issues
n
Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and 5S
n
Working safely and in accordance with RMS HSEQ procedures
n
Collaborating with supervisors, tradespeople, apprentices and trade assistants
n
Providing technical input and knowledge to support the wider team
n
n
About you
n
We're looking for a skilled and motivated tradesperson who takes pride in their work and has a strong mechanical and machining background.
n
You will ideally have:
n
n
A relevant Trade Certificate, preferably Mechanical Engineering / Fitter Machinist Proven experience working in a trade or machining environment
n
Strong knowledge of engine components
n
Experience operating manual and/or CNC machinery
n
The ability to interpret technical drawings and access technical resources
n
Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
n




Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality
n
Good time management and job-planning skills
n
The ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
n
A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
n
Good communication skills and a willingness to share knowledge with others
n
n
Experience with vertical borers, CNC milling, Rottler machinery or Heidenhain, Mazatrol or Siemens controls would be advantageous, but is not essential.
n
A Licence to Perform High Risk Work - Class DG would also be desirable but is not mandatory.
