For over four decades, PGCNV has delivered specialist support services that promote safety, recovery and long-term wellbeing for women, children and young people experiencing family and domestic violence. Our services include refuge accommodation, counselling, outreach support and coordinated response programs that help victim-survivors rebuild their lives.

About the role
n
As a Refuge Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting women, children and families experiencing crisis, family and domestic violence, and homelessness. Working within a residential refuge environment, you will help ensure clients feel safe, supported and empowered as they begin their recovery journey.
n
This is a rewarding and varied role where no two days are the same. You will:

Provide trauma-informed, client-centred support to women and children.
n
Assist with risk assessments, safety planning and crisis intervention.
n
Support clients to access housing, health, legal, financial and community services.
n
Build trusting relationships that promote recovery, confidence and independence.
n
Advocate for clients and work collaboratively with partner agencies.
n
Maintain accurate case notes and contribute to a positive, supportive refuge environment.
n
n
You will join a dedicated and experienced team that values collaboration, reflective practice and continuous learning while making a meaningful difference in the lives of victim-survivors every day.

About You
n
You are passionate about supporting women and children and believe in every person's right to safety, dignity and respect.
n
You bring:
n
n
Experience in community services, family and domestic violence, homelessness, mental health or a related field.
n
A trauma-informed and strengths-based approach to working with people in crisis.
n
Strong communication, advocacy and relationship-building skills.
n
The ability to remain calm, organised and compassionate in complex situations.
n
A commitment to working collaboratively within a team while also being confident working independently.
n
Respect for diversity and a genuine desire to empower others to achieve their goals.
n
n
