The Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department provides comprehensive, patient-centred women's health services across the region, including inpatient and outpatient care, specialist clinics and community outreach.
About the Opportunity
As Head of Department – Obstetrics & Gynaecology, you will provide strategic, clinical and operational leadership for the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department at Kalgoorlie Health Campus.
Reporting to the Director Medical Services, you will be accountable for the provision of safe, high-quality care to women and new-borns while fostering a culture of clinical excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement.
This is a broad senior leadership position combining specialist clinical practice with responsibility for departmental governance, strategic service planning, workforce development and the implementation and review of clinical policies, protocols and standards You will provide specialist care for obstetric and gynaecological patients at Kalgoorlie Health Campus and across the Northern Goldfields,



providing expert leadership in the management of complex and high-risk cases.
Working in partnership with the Clinical Nurse Specialist and multidisciplinary teams, you will lead and develop the medical workforce, supervise and mentor junior medical staff, registrars and medical students, and promote ongoing education, research and professional development.
You will also represent the department at hospital, regional and state forums, working collaboratively with hospital management, healthcare partners, external agencies and community stakeholders to strengthen women's health services and improve outcomes across the Goldfields.
About You
We are seeking an accomplished Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who combines senior clinical expertise with the leadership capability to guide a multidisciplinary department in a complex regional healthcare environment.
Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG), or equivalent.
Demonstrated senior clinical experience across Obstetrics and Gynaecology, including the management of complex and high-risk cases.
Proven leadership experience, including strategic planning, service development and staff management.
Robust experience in clinical governance, risk management and quality improvement at a departmental level.
Advanced communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and build effective relationships.
A demonstrated ability to foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture that values diversity, equity and respect.




Current knowledge of relevant legislative obligations and their application within healthcare.
Eligibility for, or possession of, a current C or C-A Class driver's licence.
Significant rural or remote Obstetrics & Gynaecology experience will be highly regarded, as will experience working in cross-cultural settings, particularly with Aboriginal communities. Experience in clinical policy development, teaching, supervision, research or academic leadership is also desirable.
