Dynamic Recruitment Sirdar Steel Pty Ltd is seeking a qualified and experienced Welder (First Class) to join their team in Somerton.
This is a full-time position (38 hours per week) where the Welder will be responsible for high-quality welding, fabrication, and steel assembly work across our production operations.
This position requires technical competency, accuracy, and adherence to workplace health and safety standards.
The successful applicant will be required to interpret technical drawings and specifications, prepare and shape metal components, perform welding using a range of processes, inspect completed welds and ensure all finished work meets required quality and safety standards.BenefitsCompetitive salary of $82,000 per annum plus 12% superannuationStable full-time employment (38 hours per week)Long-term role within a growing steel fabrication businessSafe, organised workshop with established proceduresOpportunity to work on diverse fabrication and welding projectsTask & responsibilitiesStudy and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine fabrication and welding requirementsSelect, clean and prepare metal stock for fabrication in accordance with job specificationsMeasure, mark out, cut and shape metal sections using hand tools, flame-cutting equipment and metal-cutting machineryShape, bend and form metal sections and pipes using hand tools, machinery, heating and other fabrication techniquesAlign components accurately using measuring instruments, clamps and hand tools prior to welding or assemblyJoin metal sections using MIG and gas welding, bolting and riveting as requiredExamine welds for bead width, penetration, alignment, strength and precision to ensure compliance with quality standardsClean, smooth and finish welds using grinding, filing, chiselling and other finishing equipmentClean,
polish and finish fabricated products to the required standardFabricate and assemble metal components in accordance with engineering drawings, project specifications and applicable Australian StandardsInspect completed work to ensure accuracy, structural integrity and quality complianceOperate and maintain welding equipment, tools and workshop areas in a clean, secure and serviceable conditionIdentify material requirements and report defects, discrepancies or safety concerns to supervisorFollow all workplace health and safety requirements, including correct use of personal protective equipmentWork collaboratively with fabricators, tradespeople and supervisor to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to the required standardQualification & ExperienceAQF Certificate IV in Engineering or equivalent qualificationMinimum 3 years' experience as a Welder or similar trade roleProven competency in MIG and gas welding techniquesAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication specificationsExperience working with structural steel, mild steel, and stainless steelStrong understanding of workplace health and safety practicesAbility to safely handle tools, machinery, and heavy materialsReliable, punctual, and able to work independently and within a small teamAbout CompanySirdar Steel Pty Ltd (ABN ***********) is a steel fabrication and manufacturing business located in Somerton, Victoria.
