fantastic opportunity is available for an experienced French Polisher / Finishing Specialist to join a well-established joinery and manufacturing team.
The client is seeking a skilled finishing professional with experience in polishing, spray finishing and timber finishes. Candidates with varying levels of experience will be considered, provided they have a strong understanding of finishing techniques and a commitment to quality workmanship.
The successful candidate will work closely with the joinery and production teams, responsible for delivering high-quality finishes across custom-made furniture, cabinetry and joinery projects. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a keen eye for detail who takes pride in producing exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out preparation work including sanding, sealing and surface preparation of timber and veneer components
- Producing high-quality finishes across custom joinery, cabinetry and furniture pieces
- Applying stains, lacquers, oils, clear finishes and other coating systems
- Completing spray finishing and polishing work using industry-standard equipment
- Setting up and operating spray equipment including pressure pots, spray guns and compressed air systems
- Mixing, matching and adjusting colours to achieve the required finish
- Ensuring finished products meet quality expectations for colour, texture and overall appearance
- Performing finishing repairs, refinishing and touch-ups when required
- Reviewing completed work and identifying any areas requiring adjustment
- Liaising with joinery and production teams to ensure finishing requirements are achieved
- Following workplace safety procedures and maintaining an organised work area
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience in French polishing, spray finishing, furniture finishing or a similar trade workplace
- Experience working with timber, veneers and a variety of finishing products
- Knowledge of cabinetry, joinery or furniture finishing processes
- Ability to achieve high-quality finishes with strong attention to detail
- Experience using spray equipment and finishing tools
- Strong colour matching skills and an understanding of finish consistency
- Ability to manage tasks independently while working effectively within a production team
- A reliable approach with good organisation and time management skills
- Ability to work to production schedules while maintaining workmanship standards
- Clear communication skills and a professional attitude
