The VCAA is a statutory body responsible to the Victorian Minister for Education, serving both government and non-government schools. We provide high quality curriculum, assessment and reporting for all Victorian student’s birth to 18 years.
An exciting opportunity exists to join the Assessment Division in the Assessment Programs Unit for an ongoing full-time position.
• Salary: $100,894 - $114,476 (Plus Superannuation of 12%)
• Ongoing
• Usual hours of work: Full time (flexible work conditions may be/are available)
• This role will require work outside standard business hours during peak operational periods to meet business requirements
• Usual work location: 189 Urquhart Street, Coburg

About the Division

The Assessment Division brings together all functions of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) related to assessment: policy design, development and conduct of assessments, marking and results.

The Operations branch is part of the VCAA's Assessment Division and supports the delivery of VCE and NAPLAN assessment programs and services across Victoria. Its work includes assessment logistics, marking coordination, results calculation, helpdesk administration, certification services, special provision processes, assessment data operations, and support for digital platforms including Insight.

Role Purpose

The Project Officer supports the planning, coordination and delivery of VCAA assessment and marking operations, with a focus on supporting large scale marking activities and associated stakeholder support services. The role provides high-level project, administrative and operational support, including coordinating communications, supporting marker and personnel management processes, monitoring reports, assisting with quality assurance activities, supporting online systems and platforms, and helping resolve operational issues as they arise.

Working closely with the Program Manager, Chief Marker and other key stakeholders, the role will help ensure assessment and marking activities are delivered accurately, efficiently and within required timeframes. The role will also support helpdesk operations, process documentation and continuous improvement activities.



During peak marking periods, the successful applicant may be required to work rostered or shift-based hours to ensure appropriate operational coverage.

Attributes

The successful applicant will be highly organised, detail oriented and able to manage multiple operational tasks in a busy, time-sensitive environment. They will have strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with senior staff, markers, contractors, helpdesk staff and other internal and external stakeholders.

The role requires sound judgement, flexibility and a proactive approach to problem solving, particularly where priorities change quickly or issues need to be resolved during peak operational periods. The successful applicant will also have strong analytical skills, confidence working with reports and operational data, and the ability to interpret information to support project delivery, quality assurance and decision making.

They will work collaboratively as part of a team, support others to complete tasks accurately and consistently, and contribute to process improvement and effective delivery of VCAA assessment and marking operations.

Qualifications and Experience

Demonstrated experience in project support, program administration, operational coordination, assessment administration or a related service delivery environment will be highly regarded.

The successful applicant will have experience supporting the planning, coordination and delivery of operational activities, documentation, monitoring progress, preparing reports, coordinating communications, supporting stakeholders and assisting with issue resolution. Experience working in a high-volume, time-sensitive setting with competing priorities will be highly regarded.





Experience supporting large-scale assessment or marking programs will be particularly valued. This includes experience with marker recruitment and management, helpdesk coordination, quality assurance processes, learning management systems (LMS), online marking or assessment platforms, Power BI or other reporting tools, and the interpretation and application of operational policies, procedures and quality standards. Experience working collaboratively with contractors, HR, IT and senior project staff to deliver successful operational outcomes wi ll be highly regarded.
